Calacatta Marble Shower Remodel in Littleton

Luxurious walk-in shower with Calacatta marble tile walls, dual rain heads, and mosaic floor in a Littleton master bathroom

This master bathroom shower remodel in a Littleton home replaced an original tub-shower combination with a large walk-in shower tiled in Calacatta marble-look porcelain. The project required full demolition of the existing unit, framing of the new shower opening, installation of cement board and waterproofing, and then tile setting across three walls and the floor. The dual rain head plumbing was installed by the homeowner's plumber before we began tile work.

Calacatta-look porcelain was selected over natural Calacatta marble for practical reasons: it is more resistant to etching from soap and shampoo, does not require periodic sealing, and has more consistent veining across tiles, which simplifies layout decisions. The mosaic floor uses the same Calacatta pattern in a smaller format to follow the shower floor slope. Matching the vein direction between the mosaic floor and the large-format wall tiles at the curb transition was a detail we planned in the dry layout stage.

What We Did

  1. Demolished existing tub-shower; installed new cement board walls and pre-sloped foam shower pan
  2. Applied sheet waterproofing membrane; taped and sealed all corners and penetrations
  3. Dry-laid wall tile to plan vein direction and minimize awkward cuts; set tile with white large-format mortar
  4. Set mosaic floor; grouted all surfaces; applied silicone at all inside corners and curb transitions

This Littleton shower remodel is a good example of how a material choice affects both aesthetics and long-term maintenance.
